Welcome to 'Hillgrove', where you will be assured of a warm welcome from the proprietors, Margaret and Tony Drennan. 'Hillgrove' is a charming country home, set in mature gardens in a rural area on the outskirts of Kilkenny City.
Though less than half a century old, with its creeper clad walls and white columned porch, it has the presence and style of a much older building.
The interior is beautifully decorated and attractively furnished with antiques.
Margaret has a very good understanding of her visitors needs and interests and will provide detailed information about the area's manifold attractions. 'Hillgrove' is recommended by many Travel guides including 'Frommers Ireland', 'Dillard/Causin', 'Hidden Places of Ireland' and the 'Jenny Rees guide'.
Margaret is a 'National Breakfast Award' winner and offers an extensive menu to suit all tastes.
Kilkenny is a great base for touring the South East. Waterford Crystal is a one hour drive as is the Rock of Cashel. Wexford Heritage Park is one and a half hour's drive. If you are concerned about driving in Dublin, why not take the Train. It leaves Kilkenny at 8.15am and arrives back in Kilkenny at 8pm. The journey takes one and half hours each way, thus giving you plenty of time to explore the city.
